Over on the Perplex City "We Love Puzzles" forum (and then also on the UnFiction forum), there are plans to celebrate the first anniversary of Finding Of The Cube by sending cubes to Mind Candy.

Well. This afternoon has brought the news that Perplex City Stories will not be starting any time soon. Posts about it are up at unfiction and Perplexorum, if you're interested.

Well, I must have been doing something right on the Perplex City forums over at unFiction - they've asked me to be a moderator. Not quite sure what will involve, but I'm sure it'll be fine. Got some guidelines to read up on, and then we'll see what happens....

At last! I've finally managed to get the final card from Season 1 (excluding promotional cards) - #238 Riemann. Yes, I know that it's currently unsolvable, and yes, I know it cost a fair bit, but I wanted to get the whole set. Hooray for eBay!

And with any luck, my box of Season 2 cards will arrive in the next few days, and there'll be a heap of shiny new puzzles to solve (and shiny new cards to collect).

I've just realised, I never posted up my final score and rank for Season 1 of Perplex City. So, here it is, taken from my profile:

Not that I managed to solve all those things on my own, a lot of help came from the lovely clever people on the UnFiction forums.

I've now pre-ordered a box of Season 2 cards. They should hopefully arrive in time for the launch on March 1st. If you want a share of the spare cards (there's bound to be LOADS of duplicates) drop me a line, and I'm sure we can come to an agreement.

So, we finally get to see pictures of the Receda Cube that people have been looking for. It is indeed very very shiny:

No, before you get all excited, I didn't find it. But someone has indeed located the blessed thing. Read the official announcement here. And he's made it onto the Beeb website, in the Technology section - read it here. He's always seemed like a decent enough chap on the forums, so I'm pleased for him.

Roll on Season 2, out on March 1st!

Hmmmm...... It seems that the Receda Cube may have been found. Finding the Cube is of course the main object of Perplex City. But there hasn't been an official announcement yet, so no-one really knows. So everyone is waiting, and waiting.

Of course, if it's been found, Season 1 will end, and there won't be too much of a gap before Season 2 starts (apparently in March). Goodness knows what fiendish things are lined up for that!
