Carrying on the theme from the "Books" page, this is one about music.
My music collection is full of all sorts, ranging from the fantastic to the incredibly dubious. There's an awful lot of stuff in there that I don't listen to, and a whole chunk that I've never listened to (and never intend to). This is partly from when I used to do discos, and we had to buy things that other people might want to hear. Unfortunately, some people have no taste, hence some of the terrible things in the collection. Some of the things are on CDs which were lying around the house, so I added them in case I ever need them for anything.
Anyway, enough of the disclaimer.
Some of my favourite bands are: Manic Street Preachers, Therapy?, Suede and Placebo. Yes, you may work out that these are the bands I spent my teenage years listening to, and I've never grown out of them (or grown up, perhaps?).
More recently, I've been listening to the likes of Muse, The Killers, Mystery Jets, Delays, Boy Kill Boy, and the kind of stuff that used to be called indie but is now probably not at all.
Overall, some pop is ok, but most is appalling. I cannot abide Coldplay, and dislike Oasis as well. I don't like classical music, most dance music is rubbish, and I don't undertand the appeal of rap, R 'n' B, and hip hop. I think that about covers it.
Every so often I have a bit of a punk/new wave phase, and listen to things like the Stranglers, Blondie, Ian Durie & The Blockheads, Undertones, Buzzcocks, and the other things that you always get on compilation discs. I also have a soft spot for glam (shhh, don't tell anyone!), so occasionally I listen to various songs by Slade, T Rex, and The Sweet.
Here's a clever little thing from Last.FM that should tell you exactly what I've listened to recently:
When I'm listening to the radio, I usually listen to
. Unless I'm at my computer, in which case it's
instead (they aren't available on FM radio).
